There are two parts of your projector which you may need to clean. They are the projector screen and the projector lens. You should clean your projector’s lens sporadically with a lens-cleaning paper to ensure that it is clear of any dust and dirt particles. But, cleaning your projector’s screen is a much more detailed process.
The projector’s screen is perhaps the most important component of the projector, as it is what your picture will be displayed on. Due to this, you will want to ensure that there are no marks or stains on the surface of the screen. The best way to make sure that this happens is to keep it nice and clean at all times.
To begin cleaning your projector’s screen, you should use a container of compressed air to remove any dust from the screen. If you do this very regularly, then this alone will be enough to keep your projector’s screen clean.
However, there are times when you may need to remove more intense stains from your projector’s screen. If the screen has become marked with dirt, then the most important thing to remember is never scrub. Instead, you should take a dry microfiber cloth and give the screen a wipe down.
If this doesn’t work, then you should mix a soapy water solution at a ratio of 9:1 (water:soap), and lightly dampen the microfiber cloth with this solution. A gentle wipe should be enough to remove the stain and get your projector screen looking as good as new.
How do you clean a projector lens?
As we have mentioned, cleaning your projector lens is often a much simpler task. This is mainly because the projector lens is much smaller than the projector screen. But, its smaller size doesn’t mean that this component of the projector is any less important. The lens is what projects the image you want to display onto your screen, so it is vitally important that it is always clean.
The main thing that makes the projector lens ‘dirty’ is dust. This along with small bits of debris can cause the image which comes out of the projector to become fuzzy, which is why you must clean it regularly.
When cleaning your projector lens, you should take a piece of lens-cleaning paper or a microfiber cloth (sprayed with lens cleaner) and rub the material in a circular motion. Always go in the same direction to avoid any smudges, and move at a steady pace. Ensure that at no point in the cleaning process does your fingertips touch the lens, as this will mean you have to start again.
When you have finished cleaning your projector lens, there is absolutely no need to dry the lens. If you do this, then you could ruin all of your hard work by smudging the glass that you have just cleaned. If this method of cleaning does not clear your projector lens, then it could be because dust has got inside the projector. This will mean that you have to clean it differently.
How do you clean dust from a projector?
Cleaning dust from the outside of your projector lens is an easy enough process, but removing dust that has got inside your projector is a much more tedious process. This is mainly because you cannot reach the inside of your projector lens without taking the projector apart. So, before you can do any cleaning, you first have to do this.
You should begin by turning off your projector and unplugging it from the electrical outlet. Generally speaking, you will only notice dust on the inside of your projector once it has built up over a considerable amount of time. So, you will only have to take your projector apart every once in a while.
Once your projector has cooled down, you should use the latch or button on your projector in order to access the inside. You should then take a can of compressed air and use this to clean the inside of your projector. Give all the different components inside a spray, as it is likely that the dust has built up equally across them.
Then, you can focus on your lens. Remove the lens cap, take a microfiber cloth sprayed with lens cleaner, and clean the inside of your lens just like you would the outside. Moving in circular motions until all the dust has been removed.
Once you are confident that no dust remains anywhere on the inside of the projector, reattach the outside casing, and your projector is ready to use again.
How do you get scratches out of a projector lens?
If you have owned a projector before, then you will know that no matter how careful you are with it, you will get scratches on the projector’s lens. It is simply something that happens, no matter how hard you try to avoid it. But, thankfully, it is usually an easy fix.
It might seem strange, but the best thing to use in order to get scratches out of your projector’s lens is toothpaste. But, before you use toothpaste to get scratches out of your projector lens, it is best to check your warranty. If your projector is still under warranty, then it is best to get the scratches fixed on this.
If your warranty has expired, then you should use toothpaste to remove the scratches. You should do this by applying a very small amount of regular toothpaste onto a soft and clean cotton cloth. You should then rub the cloth in a circular motion on the lens of your projector for 10-20 seconds.
Once this is done, you should then repeat the process with a cloth that has been dipped in cold water. Finally, you should take another clean and dry cotton cloth and wipe away all the water and toothpaste residue. You should then find that the scratches have been removed. But, if the scratches on your lens were very deep, then you might need to repeat this a couple of times.
